About Candy Spa – Chinatown’s Trusted Beauty Destination

📍 123 Baxter Street, Chinatown, New York  ·  (212) 226-1688

Candy Spa opened in the heart of Chinatown with a simple conviction: that the best spa services in New York City should not require a midtown address or a luxury hotel price point. Over the years, that conviction has held — and the clients who found us have kept returning, bringing their friends, their sisters, and their colleagues. This is what a neighborhood spa is supposed to be.

Our Story

Candy Spa was founded by practitioners who had worked in both high-end Manhattan spas and in the skilled, unadorned treatment rooms of Chinatown’s wellness community. They saw clearly what each world offered and what each lacked. The luxury spas had beautiful spaces and premium products; the neighborhood practitioners had deeper skill and genuine relationships with their clients. The founding vision of Candy Spa was to bring skilled practice into a space that treats clients with the same professionalism as any upscale establishment — without charging for the décor.

Our location on Baxter Street, steps from Canal Street in Manhattan’s Chinatown, was deliberate. The neighborhood has historically been home to some of New York’s finest practitioners of traditional Chinese therapies and Asian beauty techniques. We are part of that community, and we take that identity seriously. It informs how we train, what we offer, and how we approach every client.

Our Philosophy

We believe that spa and beauty treatments work best when they are genuinely understood — by the practitioners delivering them and by the clients receiving them. We do not sell services by describing them in a way that exaggerates what they can do. A facial will not eliminate deep wrinkles. A massage will not cure a structural back problem. Laser hair removal requires a complete treatment course. We say this clearly, and clients appreciate the honesty. The relationship we value most is the long-term one: a client who comes to us monthly for years because the results are real and consistent.

We also believe that every client deserves the same quality of attention regardless of what they are spending. A $15 brow wax at Candy Spa gets the same care as a $300 permanent makeup appointment. This is not a policy — it is how our team approaches their work.

Our Team

Our practitioners include licensed estheticians, certified massage therapists trained in Tuina and Western modalities, lash artists with years of extension experience, and permanent makeup technicians certified in microblading and related techniques. Many have been with Candy Spa for years; some since we opened. The low turnover is intentional — we invest in our team’s continued training and we treat them well, because the quality of what they do for clients depends directly on the care they receive themselves.

Client Reviews

We have served thousands of clients since opening. The feedback that means the most to us is not the five-star rating, but the client who calls back a week after their first facial to book another appointment because their skin looked different when they woke up the following morning. That is the result we work for. To share your experience, please leave us a review on Google — it helps other New Yorkers find quality services in their city.

Our Commitment to Clean Beauty Standards in NYC

Every tool that touches your skin at Candy Spa is either single-use and discarded after your session, or sterilized in an autoclave between appointments. This is not marketing language — it is the standard we hold ourselves to regardless of whether anyone is watching. Wax pots are never double-dipped. Lash glue is dispensed fresh for each application. Needles and microblade tools are opened in front of you before use and disposed of immediately after.

The products we use are chosen for performance and safety, not for brand recognition. Many of our estheticians have tested dozens of products over the years to find formulations that work well across a range of skin types and tones. We avoid known sensitizers wherever alternatives exist, and we carry fragrance-free options for clients with reactive skin. If you have allergies or sensitivities, let us know when you book — we will review the products planned for your treatment in advance.

In a city where beauty businesses open and close quickly, the ones that endure do so because clients trust them. We earn that trust through consistent hygiene, honest communication about what treatments can and cannot do, and a commitment to your health and safety that extends beyond the visual. Clean beauty, to us, means clean in the most literal sense — and that commitment underlies everything we do.
